The Challenge | Let's go to the Beach!

Build a tool for beach-goers to monitor for hazards and to alert them of precautionary measures for protection on their swim- and surf-filled adventures!

The Solar Band

With this solar band you can sun tan avoiding risks of skin cancer. It’s a wearable device that uses its sensors to detect and analyse the amount of sun light and temperature. Using red, yellow and green lights people are aware of the level of the risk.


The project started in order to protect the skin during summer when people are most exposed to this problem.

The objective is to create a system to analyze the light and the temperature of the Sun when people are outside.

After collecting the components we needed, we started to make and develop a system with an Arduino; we have also encountered some problems, like the parts compatibility which was hard to achieve, but in the end we found a resolution and we managed to finish it all.

What we’ve used:

-microcontroller: Arduino yùn;



-6 leds (2 green, 2yellow, 2 red);

-6 resistors (220 Ω);


-temperature sensor;

-light sensor.
