The global demand of electrical energy is climbing and will keep climbing with the advent of EV. There is no sustainable way to meet this demand using conventional methods, like coal. Solar energy is one of the primary candidates to replace coal.
The costs for solar panel installation have dropped considerably thanks to production cost reduction and incentives. Also, new technological advances have been made that improve solar panel efficiency.
There are various PV solar energy calculators that are either hard to use for the average user or limited to a certain region. The aim of our project is to talk solar energy in a language everyone understands: kWh and $. We intend to simplify the way data can be generated and offer this information for any location on Earth (and in the future, Mars).
We have a team of passionate people, dedicated to leave the world better of than when they came into it. Joining us are experienced developers and electrical engineers that combined their efforts to implement this proof of concept over the weekend.
We use radiation data gathered by satellites in the past twelve years, compute the energy output of a solar system and them visualize it on the map using GPS coordinates. This way we give the user a sense of the solar potential the region he/she lives in has.
Further more, we leverage forecast solar and weather data in order to predict the the potential green energy generated for the next seven days.
Our solution also includes a tool that helps people plan their energy consumption throughout the entire day and stay within the bounds of the system.
