Smart vehicle software for reducing pollution.

Our idea is to develop a software that controls environmental pollution in the cities with the main help of Global Positioning System. It will limit bad emissions from hybrids or offer a different route if limitation is not possible at a given moment.

ТHE PROBLEM:

Some facts about the pollution:

  • Pollutants that are released into the air, as opposed to land and water pollutants, are the most harmful.
  • Air pollution is not a recent occurrence. In 1952, the Great Smog of London killed 8000 people.
  • Rising levels of air pollution in Beijing has brought a new disease – Beijing cough.
  • 5,000 premature deaths in Southern California are caused due to pollution from diesel trucks.
  • 28% of the Americans believe they are most affected by air pollution caused by vehicles.
  • 80% of lung diseases are caused due to pollution from other cars, buses, trucks and other vehicles.

And there are more and more of these facts that we just can't leave without a solution...the whole world is suffering from the air pollution. We have to start before its too late!

The idea:

We are Team Quasar and we want to introduce our project. With our mission we hope one day our children will live on a more beautiful and cleaner planet and with respect for keeping what we have left them. Our project consists of hardware and software combined to provide the vane energy of each electric car, thus reducing the pollution dramatically.

the software:

The software we want to develop is linked to the GPS on the vehicle. Upon reaching the city limits, a server directly contacting the software will automatically switch to electric mode or limit the exhaust gases of the car in the city. In this way, we strive to impose a limit on urban pollution, and we all know that in big city, it affects millions of people.

We also plan to program the software to send data about the discarded pollution to the server responsible for harmful emissions in the region. In this way we will help to make it easier and more accurate to calculate pollution in a city or even a city district.

The hardware:

The hardware we intend to use aims to improve the life of the car on the road. With the solutions used, we have the idea to power the car with electricity and thus reduce pollution globally (even outside the populated regions).

The technologies we plan to use are:

  1. Solar Window - this is a special coating that is applied to the glass and produces electricity. This coating produces 50 times more energy per unit area compared to solar panels.
  2. Using heat transfer technology, the technology is based on the collection of the heat that remains during the combustion of the fuel and the generation of electricity. Leaded telluride is a thermoelectric element that can be compared to a normal ICE connected to a generator but uses electrons instead of water or gas. This material is most effective between 250 and 450 degrees Celsius, which is the typical operating temperature of the ICE.
  3. Gold nanowire batteries it consists of gold nano threads that are 1000 times thinner than human hair. They are in a gel-like electrolyte to avoid tearing the threads when refilled. These batteries were charged 200,000 times in three months, showing no signs of degradation.
  4. Graphene car batteries this battery can be fully charged in just a few minutes. It can be charged and discharged 33 times faster than lithium-ion batteries, this is important if the driver wants more power in a short time. The capacity of the 2.3 W battery is 1000 Wh / kg, compared to 180wh / kg of the lithium-ion battery. The best of these batteries is that they have to be ready in the "near future".
