Space Nerds has received the following awards and nominations. Way to go!
We have chosen to tackle the ‘Live Smart’ challenge. Our project revolves getting sensory data from a low-cost, customisable SensorKit: It's a Raspberry Pi that can detect sound, light, wind direction, humidity, and temperature. This is the default configuration that we chose to build, however, more sensors can be added.
We have a working program that records all sensory data onto an online storage system from which it can easily be accessed through our User Interface.
SensorKit will be used in Smart Cities to build a network of research nodes. The data from these mini-computers will be used to obtain useful information about our surroundings. External data can be integrated into our platform so that it can be used together with SensorKit. In the current state, Smart City Data is scattered on many different servers and every city is working for themselves. It should be collected in one place to make it easy to research, to have a common ground from where you can access information and conduct research.
