Create a medium to help people understand energy output from a solar panel, and a tool to plan energy consumption based on expected energy output from solar technologies.
Icaro's Dive Project
Icaro's Dive project intends to educate people outside the science community in simple terms how important solar power is for a sustainable future and for further space missions, encompassing from everyday “Earth” activities to deep space exploration!
TEAM
Our team is made of 3 members. Two of us are graduating in chemical engineering and the other just started his graduation in software engineering. So it was quite a challenge to develop this tool and the educational video, all things considered, we are very proud to present our work and hope that it makes a small REAL difference in people’s life! In order to guide our research we analyzed the data NASA gave us, the knowledge we gathered trough our lives and websites specialized in solar panels.
VISION
Mankind progress is connected to the scientific developments and innovations. Some great names stand out in that matter, like Tesla, Newton, Copernicus and many others. But, what’s the point if nobody could read their works, improve them and use it for the benefit of humanity? So we can say that education and information are keys to progress just like research is. In order to reveal the unknown for the great majority of people with low education quality, we want to make big scientific developments accessible to people all around the globe.

Our proposition is to essentially join forces! We share the same goals at the end of the day. NASA has the resources to make our dream come true. Starting here at this #hackathon, the possibilities are endless!

THE TOOL
In the spreadsheet tool, input how much you use your everyday home appliances and eletronic devices to know how much energy it consumes and costs. You can also estimate how many houses like yours can be sustained by a solar farm!

THE FUTURE
The purpose of this project is divided in two part, one is to foment in people the search for knowledge and another to develop a mobile app to, through the interactive animation, conscientize and then provide a tool to users. The tool will possibilite a further aproach, capacitating the user to compare his energy consumption with the generation of a solar farm.
