Our aim is to create a useful tool that can help the average guy who's interested in solar energy to get involved actively.
We have two modules: Get Started and Energy Management
Get Started can help you choose an appropriate solar panel that can fit your needs, we ask you your location and your last electric bill and how much of it you would like to cover so that we can calculate which solar you need based on the radiation you receive(using NASA's records and pvwatts.nel.gov/pvwatts.php) in your city and how much power you need.
And Energy management is designed for monitoring and predicting future behavior of your solar panel and compare it to your house electric consumption with help of a smart meter. In this module we ask you to synchronize the app with your smart meter and we also ask about your electric devices so that we can generate some alerts.
We use your smart meter registers to compare it to the solar panel output , and for the predictions we use past info of your smart meter and prognosticate your usage. We use NASA's records and pvwatts.nel.gov/pvwatts.php to prognosticate how much power your solar panel will produce and generate alerts and help you plan your usage.
As our project was extensive we decided to create a prototype and go as far as we can on the code, our present code process the information from NASA's registries and our prototype helps as a visual aid for getting to understand the functionality of the program. We are sending both the link to the prototype and the link to the code (which is written in matlab)
