What if you could see exactly how green the businesses around you are? Would you shop differently?

Renew is an app that helps consumers find green businesses to shop at.

You can check into local businesses and find out more about how sustainable they are, information on energy sources where available, and details on any renewable energy projects that they are involved in.

By providing transparency, you can better decide which businesses to support and, indirectly, help support projects like solar plants in developing countries.

How does it work?

1. Dashboard view shows you what your current carbon impact is based on business, cafes and restaurants you've visited, as well as nearby sustainable places you can check into.
2. Map view gives you an overview of green and non-green businesses within the local area, as well as an idea of how your city is faring overall (based on the green and red sections on the map).
3. History view provides a list of places you've visited and quick access to their sustainability metrics.

We believe that small changes lead to bigger ones, and we, as individuals can influence businesses to invest in sustainability.

In the long term, we hope to allow people to contribute to renewable energy projects directly as.

How do we get our data?

We plan to achieve this by aggregating data from AMEE and BREEM's APIs. AMEE provides an API with sustainability businesses throughout the UK, while BREEM provides certificates based on a sustainability assessment for different buildings and infrastructures.

By combining these two data sets we try to achieve a map that shows levels of sustainability and emerging trends. We try to underline your impact throughout the years on the environment and, that way, you can encourage businesses to become the key players in the energy consumption problem.
