The entire planet is suffering from a human-made plague:

Deforestation is clearing Earth's forests on a massive scale, often resulting in damage to the quality of the land. Cattle ranching is the leading cause of deforestation in the Amazon rainforest. More than 20 percent of the Amazon rainforest is already gone, and much more is severely threatened as the destruction continues. It is estimated that the Amazon alone is vanishing at a rate of 20,000 square miles a year.

Where is deforestation worsening around the world?

It’s a difficult question to answer, as many forest assessments are often years or even a decade out of date by the time they’re published. But we can get there due to consistent, credible and trustworthy real-time data, advanced computing power, and an increased demand in data scientists.
