The FACENS Astronaut Habitat is a stand-alone residence designed for long-term comfort. This modern moon home, interacts with its residents assisting them with their daily activities, as well as monitoring their health.
It's design allows the creation of a larger complex, by replicating and attaching new modules, interconnected by corridors.
Each module has a great infrastructure, with a diversity of areas, including comfortable dorms, entertainment facilities, laboratories, ambulatory and storage areas.
The habitat was designed to be fully functional, safe and self-sustainable. Its dome like architecture, minimizes the risk of rupture due to pressure differences and the corridors are equipped with a safety doors system. Temperature, humidity, pressure and oxygen levels can be adjusted to provide the astronaut a pleasant environment. The energy is provided by the solar panels and stocked into rechargeable batteries to maintain the demand in case of need.
Moreover it could be built a greenhouse, which attached to the habitat, would supply fresh vegetables and oxygen for the astronauts.
SpaceApps is a NASA incubator innovation program.
