Eco Maps

Share your eco-friendly activities, encourage friends, and correlate the magnitude of your impact with local environmental data from NASA open data sources.

Ecomap

Eco Maps uses existing social network posts of eco-friendly activities to accomplish a number of goals:

  • Track activities shared on social networks that help the environment. Use this data to derive the positive ecological impact occurring in geographical regions.
  • Create positive social pressure to increase ecologically responsible behavior
  • Correlate sustainable actions with NASA data to determine an "EcoLike" rating based on whether a given locale is in greater need of certain positive behavior. For example, an area with heavy ground-level pollution would have increased benefit from pollution-free activities such as biking to work or driving an EV.

To participate in Eco Maps, send a tweet:

  • Include the hashtag #ecolike2017
  • Preferably include a photo
  • Describe your eco-friendly activity
  • Include location in your tweet, and if possible, toggle on "Share precise location" to provide the most accurate location coordinates
