Ember Alert
Ember Alert tracks NASA satellite data for active fires happening around the world. Along with an interactive map, we allow you to submit your geolocation data and contact information to us so that we can notify you if we ever detect a fire close by.
Ember Alert tracks NASA satellite data for active fires happening around the world. Our interactive map allows you to check if there are any fires near you. But that's not all! We allow you to submit your geolocation data to us along with a phone number or an email address so that we can notify you if we ever detect a fire close by.
Or... if you ever spot a fire near you, snap a picture and send it to us. We'll match your geolocation data with our active fire coordinates and tag your picture(s) to it!

Our data comes from the NASA MODIS Active Fire datasets. For our map, we used Leaflet JS, an open source mapping tool created with javascript, and Open Streets Map. The website was designed with Bootstrap.
Our future goals for this product is to find more real time data feeds for active fires around the world and export our product to Google Maps API so we can leverage their routing tools to create safe routes out fire zones for civilians and safe routes into fire zones for emergency services. We want to also integrate predictive modeling for fire spread with climate data after getting consultation and feedback from environmental scientists.
We plan on continuing to construct the back end over the next couple of months so we can fully implement the fire notification and alert system. Once completed, we would like to package our product into an API readily available to emergency services.
