The Challenge !

Our challenge is to reduce the death toll and the adverse economic, social, and environmental effects caused by wildfires.

Our Idea !

Our solution consists of three phases :

• Phase 1 : Monitoring and alert system
  • Using past and real time satellite data , fire stations will be able to identify zones and hours with a high risk of wildfire.
  • In order to achieve more accurate predictions, the system will use data regarding flora, temperature and wind.
  • In the case of fire, the system will propose shortest paths for fire-trucks.
  • This will enable fire stations to optimise the available fire tackling resources in the most cost-effective way
• Phase 2 : Citizen motivation
  
  • Using phone application, citizens will be able to actively assist the firefighters.
  • With a single push of a button anyone can send a s.o.s message to the fire station along with location data and a photograph of the region on fire.
  • The fire station will immediately alert people nearby by sending notifications, safe zones and rescue paths.
• Phase 3 : Drones
  • Using strategically position drones equipped with suitable sensors, fire stations will be able to detect the start of a wildfire and take immediate action.
  • The drones will drop a fire extinguish ball to tackle the fire in a earlier stage while its range is short enough saving the cost of dispatching a fire truck.
  Business aspect !The most suitable business model may be a non-profit organisation providing local authorities with the software and expertise to use the systems. This model matches the vision of an organisation with a strong economical, social and environmental dimension, and requires a revenue only as high as the costs of implementation of the project. It therefore demonstrates a valuable business ethic in a feasible and sustainable manner.
