What is Firefy?

Firefy enables users to report a wildfire directly from their smart devices, providing useful information such as the location and photos of the incident with just a few taps on their phone. Additionally, users will be able to see all current wildfires on the Web and their smartphones.

Combining weather systems with NASA’s satellite data and machine learning algorithms, Firefy will be able to predict possible fire outbreaks, caused by high temperatures, thunderbolts or other natural or not causes.

When a fire incident is confirmed, citizens of nearby locations are notified of the danger and evacuation plans are provided. In addition, rescue and fire management teams are notified for the best route to enter areas of concern.

The dashboard viewer and Server platform:

• Machine learning and clustering Algorithms generating fire event combining user input into meaningful predictions.
• Calculate possible fire directions based on live wind data and temperature
• Real time visualization of the data points on maps
• Use of available NASA data to predict possible fire outbreaks
• Aggregate the data into GSI databases and make them available to the general public

The mobile clients (Android - iOS)

• One click wildfire report with location, picture and description
• Subscribe to location generated alerts based on alerts from other users
• View fire hot spots and real time fire movement predictions
• Get turn by turn navigation escape routes
